Wow, am I pretty shocked. We began this case study on how much you could earn by switching over to Ezoic’s premium ad network (when compared to Google’s AdSense) back in October 2020. In that month, we earned $606 in ad revenue, which was far higher than AdSense’s $177 in September. But the hype train never stopped, as it kept rising in November ($961) and December ($902) of 2020.
January’s typically brutal CPM was a seasonal expected drop (as was a DNS outage on our end), dropping our ad revenue to just $699. But once that was over, it continued rising again throughout February ($1,032), March ($1,186), April ($1,203), and May ($1,678) of 2021. Initially, we hoped for a similarly modest gain this past June. But instead, we logged in a massive 248% leap in ad earnings to $5,636.
We do have to wonder… What the flipping heck happened? For starters, our unnamed case study domain gained a substantial boost in traffic in June of 2021. Specifically, nearly 170,000 visits, in addition to more than 195,000 pageviews. Within the latter category, over 126,000 of them were classified by Ezoic as ‘engaged’ pageviews. That’s a fantastic 138% gain in visits and a 134% gain in pageviews.
Consequently, this leads to our June ePMV (earnings per thousand visitors) peaking at a new all-time high of $33.18. This is an average across all pages for June. Meanwhile, we also have to talk about our daily ad revenue. In the recent past, we’d be pretty chuffed with just $50 in ad earnings per day. In June, we’d see at least $200 in ad revenue on most days, before it peaked at a mighty $275.
Key Figures
It’s absolutely mind-blowing to see how far we’ve come. To be clear, June’s $5.6k ad revenue was just from Ezoic themselves. Their fairly clever mediation tools permit us to earn ads through AdSense, as well. Ezoic would automatically pick and choose between their ads or Google’s on the fly, depending on which ones would earn you more. Plus, there’s also their AI and machine learning to consider.
Ezoic adopts artificial intelligence to continually tweak and optimize ads in the background. But that doesn’t explain how our traffic grew by so much. Where we were getting say 3,000 pageviews a day in earlier months, we’d now see 7,000 in June. In my opinion, I think what happened was there had been an algorithm change at Google. Consequently, leading to a more favorable organic search.

Alternatively, our content might have a lot to do with it, as well. We’ve reinvested a lot of our income into creating high-quality, long-form, and keyword-focused SEO articles. Our persistence in pumping out all that content may have forced Google to see our site in a different manner. In all, we’re quite pleased with how this has turned out, with far higher returns than Ezoic themselves had promised.
Specifically, they have a guarantee that you’ll earn at least 25% more in ad revenue compared to its rivals like AdThrive and Mediavine. Fail to reach that, and Ezoic will actually pay the difference. For June, it’s worth mentioning that we also moved over to their Premium program. Now, deep-pocketed premium advertisers can choose to have advertising on our site.
