Commonly, December (or any time close to the end of the year) is the best time to monetize your site with ads. Holiday ad spending is no joke, and we’ve usually experienced pretty high ad revenue at this time of the year. But even we didn’t expect this much of a jump, after switching over from AdSense to Ezoic’s premium ad network. We began this case study more than a year ago, in September 2020.
Back then, and while we were still relying on AdSense, our ad earnings peaked at around $177. In just 30 days, after swapping to Ezoic’s ads in October 2020, that figure rose to $606. Just a few months in, we managed to break the four-figure mark by February, with $1,032. Another big leap was recorded in June 2021, when returns from those Ezoic ads shot upwards to $5,636 and we never looked back.
We noted higher gains in September ($6,957), October ($7,120), and November ($8,779). Coming to the end of the year, how has December’s ad revenues fared for our case study domain? Remarkably, it saw a 34% rise to a mind-bending $11,799 – our first five-figure monthly ad earnings. This doesn’t yet account for Ezoic’s mediation tools, allowing us to earn extra by simultaneously monetizing through AdSense.
Partly, this is thanks to our site’s impressive traffic growth. Visits are up to over 247,000, in addition to nearly 283,000 pageviews. Among them, more than 180,000 of them are classed by Ezoic as ‘engaged’ pageviews. Or, folks who’ve spent a decent chunk of their time on the site. Altogether, our ePMV (earnings per thousand visitors) reached a new all-time high of $47.66 as a site-wide average.
Key Figures
Our site’s daily ad revenues are also looking pretty good. Some months ago, just $50 per day in yields would’ve been more than enough. Yet, throughout December 2021, Ezoic’s ads have netted $300 per day, at the bare minimum. Meanwhile, our best days saw nearly $450 in income from ads within just 24 hours, which is awe-inspiring. Although, perhaps this isn’t surprising given how ads usually work.
All those Christmas ad spots and shopping sprees are paying well for us, so we can’t complain. We’re very happy as a whole, especially in regards to how our content has been attracting organic searches through Google. Much of our profits will continue to be reinvested into making loads of new content that’ll be focused on SEO and keyword research. Ezoic’s Premium program has been a boon, too.

If you’re ever invited, do take that opportunity. It’s a win-win, with a guarantee that you’ll earn more than what you pay. The financial and payment model around it isn’t the most ideal, with a fairly high upfront cost. Otherwise, it’ll do wonders at bringing A-tier advertisers onto your site. Overall, this has more than validated Ezoic’s own promise that their ads will have at the very least 25% higher returns. Or, they’ll pay the difference.
It makes perfect sense to get onboard with Ezoic, especially if you’re still using AdSense. Even if you’re subscribed to other premium ad networks such as AdThrive or Mediavine, Ezoic’s well worth a shot. It continues to earn us greater return-on-investment, and we’re optimistic. You needn’t have to worry if you’re a smaller site with less than 10,000 visits, as Ezoic’s Access Now program still caters to you.
